The City of Bellevue strives to ensure that its programs and facilities are accessible to all residents, and continues to make modifications where necessary.
People can make an online request for accessibility or accommodation. A team of employees from all of the city's departments — the ADA/Section 504 Coordinating Team — assesses programs and facilities for accessibility.
For convenience, and in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of Bellevue has established a process for handling accessibility requests and grievances.
In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, sign language interpreters will be provided upon request for City Council meetings as well as other city-sponsored events, public meetings or hearings. Contact the city's Title VI coordinator by e-mail or phone at 425-452-4270 if you have questions.
According to Title II of the ADA, a public entity with a minimum of 50 employees is required to designate an individual to oversee its compliance with the law. Yvonne Tate, Citywide ADA Coordinator, leads Bellevue's ADA/Section 504 Coordinating Team. Enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act is the responsibility of the U. S. Department of Justice.
