Construction in Crossroads Park:
The Bellevue Youth Performing Arts Theatre construction project is scheduled to begin May 1, 2013, last approximately 18 months, and be complete by the summer of 2014. The Theatre construction will impact the Crossroads Community Center, which includes the reduction of parking slots in the front parking lot, the use of the main center entrance, and two partial community center closures.
The Community Center Parking lot will be inaccessible to parking for the majority of this summer (2013). Parking will be directed to the Park’s north parking lot located at 15801 NE 15th St. Customers will need to walk from the Par 3 Golf Course parking lot through the Crossroads Park to gain access at the side entrance of the Community Center. We will maintain ADA accessible parking and drop-off to the Community Center. The two Community Center closures are tentatively scheduled for May 25-June 16 and August 26-September 8. We are working to ensure your enjoyment, safety, and the continued availability of programs and services. As the construction proceeds, we will work to keep you updated on our progress and changes that may impact your visit to Crossroads Community Center and Park. Crossroads Community Center is an international gathering place where participants reflect diversity. Over 64 languages are spoken here. Crossroads offers programs for all ages in sports, fitness, arts and enrichment. Crossroads is an important element in Bellevue's Family, Youth and Teen Services program.
The community center, which opened in 1981, specializes in recreation and social services for at-risk youth. The center has grown in focus to include:
- recreation and human service programs for preschool, elementary-age youth and families from the increasingly diverse neighborhood;
- comprehensive recreational, educational and human services programs and activities; and
- referral for human services, from refugee services to legal assistance programs.
The building has been expanded to offer additional programs, as well as meeting space for the community. The renovated space includes:
- A large multi-use room with an attached warming kitchen that can seat up to 120 people
- Four smaller multi-use programming spaces as well as a conference room
- Hallways to improve circulation
- Increased storage.
