The Northwest Arts Center provides a venue for nearly 200 arts and fitness programs. The center encourages individual expression, nurtures self-esteem and creativity and instills a sense of physical and mental well-being while offering a social outlet in a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere. Programs include an introduction to visual and performing arts, as well as fitness classes for people of all ages.
In 1999, the city made several changes to the facility, including the addition of a pottery studio, kiln room, kitchenette, larger dance mirrors, portable dance barres and a new sound system. The Northwest Arts Center is home to two outdoor sculptures. "Visions of the Deep," by Dudley Carter, graces the northwest portion of the center and John Kennedy's "Amore" will be mounted at the entrance.
