Bellevue's dedicated corps of citizen volunteers is an essential part of what makes this city great. More than 8,000 people volunteer their services for the city each year and outnumber city employees by more than six to one. There are many opportunities with varying time commitments, skills and work focus.
Partners Needed
In addition, the City of Bellevue is committed to promoting communitywide volunteerism through organizations that provide benefit to Bellevue and its citizens. The city routinely partners and works closely with these organizations on projects and ongoing programs. If your organization has an interest in partnering with Bellevue, please e-mail volunteer program coordinator Shelly Shellabarger or call her at 425-452-5375.
Your Input is Wanted
The city would appreciate your input regarding its internal volunteer opportunities and opportunities available throughout the community. Please complete our short online volunteer survey or simply contact Shelly Shellabarger with your ideas for community volunteer work in Bellevue.
Volunteering with Bellevue
Bellevue's internal volunteer opportunities, listed in this section of the website, are located in various departments. They have different requirements in terms of application process, time commitment and training. Hopefully, the list of positions on the left includes something that fits your interests and background. Bellevue's Volunteer Opportunities brochure includes general details about ways people can help the Parks & Community Services Department.
This section does not include seats on city boards, commissions, committees and task forces. The Boards and Commissions section offers details about these volunteer panels and how to apply for a seat on one.
